Trail note · The Arrangement

How a Dudhwa trip comes together

You choose the length and the pace; we take care of the forest paperwork, the wheels and the roof over your head. Four small steps, none of them on your plate.

Pick a package

A short wildlife getaway, a longer forest stay or a group programme — or tell us your dates and we shape one around them.

We do the paperwork

Forest entry and safari permit assistance is handled from our office at the gate — no queues, no forms, no last-minute panic.

Sleep near the gate

Your stay sits close to the forest boundary, so the morning drive starts with a short porch-to-jeep walk, not an early highway run.

Drive at dawn & dusk

A guide reads the grass, the waterholes and the pugmarks. Your only job is to keep your eyes open and your camera ready.

The Dudhwa Tour Packages

Itineraries that bring together stays, safari drives, permit assistance and meals, so the forest is all you have to think about. Send your dates and we confirm the itinerary, inclusions and quote in writing.

Trail note · The Daily Rhythm

A typical day inside the reserve

Dudhwa runs on two drives a day — one as the forest wakes, one as it cools. Here is how a package day unfolds.

5:15 AM

Tea on the lodge porch

Chai, a light snack and the day’s route talk while the sky turns grey-green above the sal.

6:00 AM

Gates open, jeep rolls in

The gate opens at six; our jeep is queued with permits in order, so you roll straight into the forest.

– 10:00 AM

Morning drive: grass, water & river channels

Herbivores on the open grass, tiger country along the channels, and the dawn light doing its work.

11:00 AM

Breakfast & the long afternoon

Back to the lodge for a full breakfast, then lunch, a siesta and birds from the verandah.

2:00 PM

Evening drive: waterholes & last light

Gates reopen at two; the afternoon run targets waterholes where the resident cast comes out to drink.

8:00 PM

Dinner & the next dawn

Hot dinner by the bonfire, sightings retold, and tomorrow’s route agreed before bed.

Trail note · Straight Answers

Questions guests ask before booking

How far ahead should we book? +
Safari permits are best confirmed as soon as your dates are fixed, and the peak season (November–March) fills steadily — so the honest advice is to book early. For weekend slots we recommend confirming two to three weeks out; for school and corporate groups, a month or more.
Can children join the safaris? +
Yes — families are the largest share of our guests. Young children do best on the gentle morning drives and the nature walks; the Family Safari Package is paced exactly for them. We seat kids by height in the jeep and carry water and snacks for the road.
When is the park closed? +
The reserve closes for the monsoon, usually from around mid-June to mid-November. Exact dates are set by the forest department each year, so confirm with us before you book travel — we tell you the real dates, not the rumoured ones.
Is the jeep private or shared? +
Both, depending on your group. A jeep seats up to six guests on their own; smaller groups can join a shared drive, subject to availability. Just tell us your numbers and we’ll confirm the arrangement when booking.
Where exactly do we stay? +
Close to the main gate, in one of the lodges, resorts or homestays we work with year-round. Based on budget and group size we shortlist two or three properties — you pick, we book the stay together with the safari in one go.
What should we pack? +
Neutral-coloured clothes (avoid white and brights), a light layer for the cold 6 AM start, walking shoes, sun block, binoculars, a camera and your permit documents. We send a one-page pack list when you book.
How is the quote confirmed? +
Once you send your dates and group size, we reply with the itinerary, inclusions and the full quote in writing, with deposit and cancellation terms — no surprises at the gate.
